This role serves as a key liaison between WWP and military installations, transition programs, medical facilities, and community partners to support warriors successful integration into WWP programs and services. The Outreach Transition Specialist independently plans and executes events, facilitates resource navigation, and fosters relationships that support the long-term well-being of wounded warriors and their families. The position requires travel, event coordination, public speaking, and the ability to respond compassionately to participants in crisis, while adhering to WWPs mission, values, and protocols./ph3Duties Responsibilities/h3pMilitary Transitional Outreach:/pulliCultivate and maintain strong relationships with military installations, veteran treatment facilities, and all branches of active duty, reserve, and National Guard personnel./liliServe as the primary WWP point of contact for local military commands, as needed./liliAttend military Transition Assistance Programs (TAP) and similar briefings to inform and register service members and their families for WWP programs prior to discharge./liliRepresent WWP at Medical Treatment Facilities (MTFs), VA hospitals, and other military transition points where wounded service members receive care./li/ulpWarrior Connection:/pulliIndependently plan, lead, and execute single- and multi-day connection events, including outreach, warrior-only, family, and Women Warrior Initiative events, with minimal supervision./liliStrategically plan and deliver the required number of local and regional events annually, aligning with the interests and needs of warriors while ensuring fiscal responsibility./liliManage multiple events simultaneously, adapting quickly to challenges by modifying logistics, procedures, or approaches as needed./liliProvide crisis support to veterans and family members experiencing emotional distress, following WWP protocols and making appropriate referrals./li/ulpEngagement Support:/pulliBuild meaningful connections with active duty service members, veterans, and families by communicating WWP program benefits, fostering trust, and encouraging engagement./liliAssess individual warrior needs and connect them with appropriate WWP services and resources to support long-term recovery./liliMaintain comprehensive knowledge of military, veteran, and WWP-specific resources to offer informed guidance and referrals./liliDevelop and sustain partnerships with local organizations and community stakeholders through collaboration and joint initiatives./liliRepresent WWP locally by participating in speaking engagements, donor events, recognition ceremonies, and community organizations as needed./li/ulpAdministrative:/pulliPartner with the Alumni Manager to maintain a personal program delivery budget, including gear procurement and travel expenses./liliApply expense management best practices, identifying cost-saving measures such as in-kind donations, vendor discounts, and tax-exempt purchases./liliMaintain accurate and secure records in internal systems such as Salesforce and Blackthorn./liliMaintain regular, proactive communication with the Alumni Manager and Regional Director, providing timely updates on outreach activities, event execution, warrior engagement, and budget performance./liliAssist in identifying and responding to participant safety concerns by applying organizational protocols for crisis response, de-escalation, and follow-up, with appropriate referrals as needed./liliAttend and actively participate in required training and/or meetings, including but not limited to New Teammate Orientation, WWP Cares, ASIST Suicide Prevention training, Leadership training, culture/team based training, or departmental huddles./liliOther related duties as assigned./li/ulh3Knowledge, Skills, Abilities/h3ulliExceptional interpersonal skills. Proven track record of building professional relationships and interacting effectively with diverse individuals./liliStrong presentation and facilitation skills. Confident communicator with a proven ability to present information effectively to various audiences, including large groups, small groups, and individuals./liliWorking knowledge of the military transition process and demonstrated ability to engage with service members, veterans, and their families./liliDemonstrated success in developing and implementing event strategies that drive outcomes, with proven ability to manage events of varying scope and complexity effectively./liliProven emotional intelligence and sound judgment in high-pressure or crisis situations, while adhering to organizational policies and procedures./liliExceptional organizational and time management skills, with a demonstrated ability to be flexible, adapt to changing priorities, and meet deadlines./liliWillingness and ability to travel in support of WWP programs and services./liliDemonstrated understanding of Wounded Warrior Project and its mission, values, programs, and services, and the impact of these programs and services on wounded warriors and their families./liliHigh energy level. Self-starter; willing to take initiative./liliUnequivocal commitment to the highest standards of personal and business ethics and conduct./liliMission-driven, guided by core values, and a pleasure to work with./li/ulh3Experience/h3pRequirements:/pulliFour years of experience working with or within the military community (active duty, reserves, National Guard, veterans, or military families), including knowledge of the military transition process and relevant support systems./liliFour years of experience in program coordination, community outreach, or outreach in a nonprofit, military, or social service environment./liliTwo years of experience in planning and executing events, including logistical coordination and participant engagement./li/ulpPreferences:/pulliTwo years of experience with using CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce) and event platforms (e.g., Blackthorn) for documentation and program tracking./liliExperience with public speaking or group facilitation./liliBilingual proficiency in Spanish./li/ulh3Education/h3pRequirements:/pulliBachelors degree.
