Description

A.T. Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU-SOMA) is seeking a full-time exempt Director of the Student Achievement Team on the Mesa, Arizona campus. The Director is responsible for student support, delivery of SOMA-specific student services, academic advising, and career advising to all ATSU-SOMA students. The role includes overseeing staff and programs of the Student Achievement Success Team.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Oversee a 4-year academic support and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.
  • Oversee a 4-year career counseling and advising program for ATSU-SOMA students, from pre-matriculation through graduation.
  • Proactively track and support students requiring additional academic assistance, providing tools and guidance to enhance performance and success.
  • Counsel students needing improvement in academic or professional performance.
  • Participate in developing and delivering DEI-based support and curriculum for students, faculty, and staff.
  • Oversee resources developed by the team, including the ATSU - SOMAGo app, SAS Website, ProgressIQ, Advisor Handbook, and Board preparation materials.
  • Oversee and update the MSPE for graduating students.
  • Track the Directed Studies course with the Associate Dean of Student Academic Affairs.
  • Engage in professional development through campus activities and national conferences.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Student Academic Affairs.

Requirements

  • Master's or Doctoral degree in Student Support Services, Student Counseling, Education, or related fields.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office/Excel/Google Sheets, email, and PPT presentations.
  • Proficient humanistic communication and public speaking skills.
  • 3-5 years of related experience.
  • Broad knowledge of student counseling services.
  • Experience with MSPE and residency Match programs.
  • Demonstrated success in promoting a culturally rich, diverse environment.
  • Understanding of bias, cultural proficiency, and strategies to mitigate differences.
  • Familiarity with principles and practices of osteopathic medicine.
