ABOUT THE ROLE . . .

The Field Service Engineer role is a key technical position within the ME-Elecmetal Technical-Commercial Department that provides comminution application and field support to the ME Elecmetal liner business line. The Field Service Engineer proactively obtains quality operational site data to inform studies, evaluations, and optimization projects. The role provides data capture, analysis, and reporting services.


Nature and Scope:

  • An essential component of the Field Service Engineer role is to perform 3D laser scans on new and worn crusher and grinding mill parts at customer process plants. They will use Faro, Creaform or similar highly sophisticated scanning equipment and software. This critical function augments ME Elecmetal s wear tracking and liner optimization services.
  • Advanced non-destructive investigations, including onsite hardness and Ultrasonic (UT) tests, enhances the value of the 3D scanning services. The Field Technician contributes to Client Concern Report investigations through process application data and analysis.
  • The Field Service Engineer is an essential member of the ME team that conducts ME FIT (Fully Integrated Technologies) and VAES (Value Added Engineering Services) initiatives. The role provides technical and field support to the sales and product development groups.
  • The Field Service Engineer provides liner installation field support, including for the ME UpTime+ grinding mill relining services that optimizes mill liner installation through detailed onsite analysis.
  • The Field Service Engineer provides field support for ME Electmetal development initiatives for new products, for example, the SMTP Bolt Tension Monitoring System.
  • As a critical customer-focused member of the ME Elecmetal team, the Field Technician will identify opportunities to improve the MEE value proposition.
  • The Field Service Engineer offers technical guidance as required. The role requires strong analytical and computational skills.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Gather field data, experimental data, laser scan data, and analytical/computational results to develop optimized designs of crusher and mill liners that extend the wear life and increase the throughput decreasing the total cost of ownership.
  • Work with crusher products and solutions (CPS) group to optimize the design of primary crushers & secondary cone crushers - bowls and mantle using laser scanning technology.
  • Provide technical & field support to the sales group during in-field failure analysis.
  • Support the development and documentation of design standards and procedures by sharing field experience and engineering expertise with designers.


Key skills:

  • Proficient with Laser Scanning Technologies (FARO, Creaform, or similar).
  • Well-versed with Milling and Crushing circuits for the Aggregates and Mineral Processing industries.
  • Have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to set and accomplish goals and objectives.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in both verbal and written English, and be at ease in presenting technical information.
  • MS Office Proficiency, including advanced EXCEL and PowerPoint skills
  • Be capable of working on mine sites. MSHA New Miner training will be provided.
  • Willing to work at remote mine site locations in North America.


Education and experience:

  • Associate or bachelor s degree in Mining, Application, Metallurgical, Mechanical, Process Engineering, or a related field
  • Five years of progressive experience in mining, aggregate, comminution, mineral process, or a related discipline is essential.
  • Experience with industrial crushing, grinding, and mineral processing at large mining operations is essential.


Location

Based in Tempe, Arizona, the position requires up to 75% domestic and international travel within the North American region.
